Marking its 10th biennial, Into the Woods conference has become one of our proudest contributions to both the local and national design scene. Sponsorship Director
Fostering relationships of mutual benefit between AIGA Seattle and representatives from allied fields who service the design community, this 2-year Board of Directors role works closely with our Programming Director in establishing a calendar and identifying potential sponsors to help support Chapter events and activities. HIVE 2013 CONFERENCE DIRECTOR/CURATOR
AIGA Seattle is looking for a star Seattle-area Director to lead and curate the 2013 HIVE Conference, a one-day event exploring the value of design in technology.
The tech community is responsible for some of the most exciting products hitting the market today. And even though great design can dramatically increase the chances of a product’s success, the role of experience design in the software world is too often misunderstood. Companies aren’t sure how to hire for it, devs don’t know what to expect from it, and businesses aren’t able to effectively evaluate if a design solution will meet their goals.
Enter HIVE.
HIVE works to encourage and advocate open communications and understanding between designers, developers, and business people such that we can work together to create better product experiences.
Last year's inaugural event was a huge success and this is an amazing opportunity to continue the momentum as well as grow your community leadership skills. You can reference HIVE 2011 on the conference website, Facebook, and YouTube.
Responsibilities include:
- Curating world-class content (identifying and securing speakers, workshop leaders, panelists, etc)
- Researching and recommend sponsorship leads
- Leading and motivating an event committee and team of volunteers
- Securing and booking an appropriate venue
- Managing event budget
- Coordinating promotional, press, event website, and marketing communications
- Creating a high quality and creative attendee, speaker and sponsorship experience
- Documenting the experience via video and/or photos
- Gathering post-event evaluations from attendees and partners
Must haves:
- Passion for the UX design & technology domain
- Wide professional network
- Excellent organizational skills & attention to detail
- Strong leadership skills – ability to motivate and lead groups of volunteers

INTO THE WOODS 2014 CONFERENCE DIRECTOR/CURATOR
AIGA Seattle is looking for a star Seattle-area Director to lead and curate the 2014 Into the Woods Conference.
In September 1996, a group of designers got together and started Into the Woods as a getaway to refresh their creative capabilities. Hosted at a Washington mountain resort, Into the Woods is a three-day hands-on inspirational design conference that dives deeply into the creative core of professional design.
Responsibilities include:
- Curating world-class content (identifying and securing speakers, workshop leaders, panelists, etc.)
- Researching and recommend sponsorship leads
- Leading and motivating an event committee and team of volunteers
- Securing and booking an appropriate venue
- Managing event budget
- Coordinating promotional, press, event website, and marketing communications
- Creating a high quality and creative attendee, speaker and sponsorship experience
- Documenting the experience via video and/or photos
- Gathering post-event evaluations from attendees and partners
Must haves:
- Passion for the outdoors, design & artistic domain
- Wide professional network
- Excellent organizational skills & attention to detail
- Strong leadership skills – ability to motivate and lead groups of volunteers

SPONSORSHIP DIRECTOR
The Sponsorship Director fosters a relationship of mutual benefit between between AIGA Seattle and representatives from allied fields who service the design community. This usually occurs in the form of cash or in-kind sponsorship for Chapter events. He/she will work closely with the Programming Director in establishing a calendar and identifying potential sponsors for Chapter events and activities. The Sponsorship Director works closely with a development committee to accomplish development goals.
Duties include:
- Identifying, contacting and nurturing relationships with potential sponsors
- Submitting monthly development reports
- Maintaining a database of sponsor contact information
- Providing benefits information to sponsors and ensuring that sponsors receive promised benefits and paper work, including 
sponsor thank-yous and acknowledgement in promised media (e.g. website, e-newsletter)
- Working directly with event chairs to help secure sponsorship for specific events, by supplying leads and then creating sponsor 
agreements and invoices, which are filed with the treasurer
- Assess the needs of the chapter and coordinate with board of directors to evaluate budgets and sponsorship needs
- Facilitate/oversee donation requests
- Act as host and accommodate vendors at events
- Creating annual and sponsorship structures that specify levels and benefits for in-kind and cash donations
