Seattle-Moscow Poster Show Curator's Preview

10/8
AIGA Studio Tours 2009

Thursday, October 8, 2009 | 6-8:30 p.m.

Several of Seattle’s top design studios and digital agencies have moved downtown within the last year. Students and professionals are invited to check out these spaces designed to inspire.

We’ve lengthened the tour times, shortened the walk between sites, and will be pulling out some social media tools to connect the studios digitally. Follow @aigaseattle on Twitter to see how that comes together. Guaranteed to be a fun evening; we’ll see you there!

Green Salon Roundtable

10/17
Green Salon Roundtable

Saturday, October 17, 2009 | 10:15 - 11:45 a.m.
Phinney Ridge Community Center, Room 6
6532 Phinney Ave N, Seattle

Interested in discussing the designer’s role in the sustainability movement? We are launching this roundtable for AIGA members and other designers as an open forum where participants can bring an idea to the floor for discussion and learn from other designers how they are practicing sustainable design methods. If you have a great sustainable design project, we would love to hear about it.

This first roundtable will also give you a chance to help shape what you’d like to see from AIGA Seattle: sustainability practices, information, and awareness. Be a part of a special group of designers that can make an impact. This event is free for our members and open to everyone, but there are only 25 spots available. If you want to be a part of the discussion, please sign up now.

Free parking in the upper lot at Phinney Ridge Community Center.

Mano-a-Mano

10/22
Mano-a-Mano

Thursday, October 22, 2009 | 7 p.m.
Starbucks TAZO Conference room
2401 Utah Ave S, Seattle

Are you the design trivia expert at your firm? Know who’s responsible for the MTV logo? Hoefler from Frere-Jones? Now is your chance to claim the title of champion, in the design trivia throwdown called Mano-a-Mano.

Hosted by Speak Up creator Armin Vit, Mano-a-Mano puts 16 local designers in a bracket-style tournament to determine one winner. The subject? Design history and practice. Don’t worry, the questions are multiple choice and there will be copies of Graphic Design Referenced at hand.

Imagine trivia night meets WWF, and it’s all about design. Offices large and small: pick an expert to represent your studio for undisputed bragging rights, or let two of them vie for the prize publicly. Then come watch the action and cheer your player on. We promise a night unlike any other in Seattle this year!

It works like this. Interested in competing? send an email

AIGA Design Social

Thursday, October 29 | 6 - 8pm
Rob Roy
Belltown

AIGA Seattle would like to invite you to stop by to share ideas, passions, and excitement, and meet new friends. It's not just about graphic design: designers of all fields are invited, as AIGA includes designers of widely different kinds of practice.

Please join us this Thursday at the Rob Roy in Belltown. Feel free to walk up to that hip/square, cool/nerdy, designer/artist, creative/business person, buy them a drink, and talk shop!

Everyone (including non-members) is welcome!

Vibrant, engaging events are a mainstay of the AIGA Seattle chapter. We average 1-2 events per month that address the intellectual, professional and educational needs of our members. We also feature design-related events and educational opportunities available in our area, as well as events sponsored by other chapters and AIGA National.
